Yes, now you can install a full working version of WordPress on a memory stick. Carry it around and use it for demos. Work on templates locally, then upload the completed version when done. It’s your own private playpen for WordPress to bash away on without worry that you’ll clobber an existing blog. This WordPress install is local only thus only you see it. It’s not on the web.
Installation is easy. Just follow these instructions. It took me about ten minutes. This puts a working local version of a webserver with WordPress on the memory stick.
To run WordPress on the stick, click ’start.exe’ in the root, then go to ‘http://localhost/wordpress/’ in your browser. That’s it!
I just spent a few hours working with new themes in WordPress this way. The process goes much faster this way, and if I goof, who cares, it’s not a live blog.
