Polizeros, my main blog, is hosted at BlueHost. They’ve had a series of problems lately, all resulting in sometimes clunky performance.
CEO Matt Heaton just blogged about it, detailing the various power, linux, router, and firewall malfunctions that resulted in a bouncy past couple of months. More importantly he 1) apologized and didn’t blame anyone else but himself and 2) detailed precisely how they are fixing the problems, indeed, most have already been done.
This is not only an excellent example of how blogging can help a business communicate, it also shows BlueHost gets it. No evasion, rather they simply admitted things got screwed up then explained how they’ve fixed them.

I’m currently hosted by BlueHost, and when I read that, it makes me feel good knowing that I have people that can not only track and identify physical problems, but also have the cajones to blame themselves.
Few companies admit failure anymore, which is why you see so much finger pointing in the upper ranks.
I believe having these attributes will bring the company further, which is why I’ll be choosing BlueHost for my new website.
