Run Ubuntu and Windows on a Mac

July 20, 2007 · 3 Comments

My next laptop will be a Mac. Several people have told me that by using Parallels, they can run any Windows program. Plus, you can install any number of operating system, so a MacBook can easily run Ubuntu and XP, if needed.

Apple is poised for major dominance, their computer sales are way up and the iPhone, like the iPod, will change everything.

More good news. You now two outstanding choices for virtualization on the Mac, Parallels and VMware

The release of VMWare bodes VERY well for our Apple stock. VMWare is the virtualization powerhouse, as you well know. Their imprimatur means that Mac is here to stay, and that they are betting on OS X as the dominant *nix flavor of the future.

    Cha-ching!

Wow. BTW, VMWare has their IPO next week, and a big pop in the price could well happen. Might be a good idea to grab some shares then stash them away. Also, their parent company EMC could also profit by the IPO, as they are keeping 90% of the stock.

I’ve been running Ubuntu on my PC alonside Windows for a few weeks now and I really like the Linux operating system and more often than not, I boot into Ubuntu rather than Windows. I also run a MacBook Pro but choose not to load either Windows or Linux on there as MAC is my favourite operating system and don’t wish to clog up my HD with 3 operating systems..
