Zuckerberg’s mea culpa

Not enough says Gigaom, because we need a complete and total opt-out, not another sort-of, semi, maybe opt-out. Which is what we got.

Plus, the apology seems a written-by-a-lawyer; bland, a bit evasive, and with less substance than would appear at first glance.

I think the word I’m looking for is “weaselly.”

Facebook clueless

Scoble wonders “Where The Hell is Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook?” Their PR disaster continues to grow ever-larger, yet the response from the company has been crickets.

Well, when you boast that you never hire anyone older than 24, as CEO Zuckerberg did,  then you won’t have any greybeards around who have been through crises like this before and know what to do. Assuming you have the humility to ask them for help, that is.

Facebook has made so many arrogant, boneheaded blunders of late that business schools may well use them as a case study of how a promising business managed to shoot itself in the foot repeatedly.
