Feedburner has many new features

Feedburner

Google bought Feedburner a while back and has added many useful features, more than a few of which I’m using on my main blog, Politics in the Zeros.

Advertising

You can easily include Google AdSense ads on your blog. It will link to your Adsense account and - this is an important and well-thought-out feature - the ad only appears in the first post on your blog, not in every post. Thus, the look is much less cluttered. To access this, click the Monetize tab in Feedburner.

They don’t have Adsense ads for your RSS feed yet. However you can use Publicize / Headline Animator to create an ad for your blog or website, then have that appear in the network. Prices are reasonable. For both the liberal and conservative blog networks, prices are $25 for 8100 impressions a week.

Look and feel

Feedburner adds huge functionality and features to your RSS feed. Feedflare can add bookmarking sites, Email This, etc. to the bottom of each post in the feed or on the website. You can tell it to post from your bookmarking or photos sites on a regular interval. It can also clean up your feed, making it easier to feed and accessible in all RSS readers. Lots more too.

Stats

Feedburner provides lots of stats for your feed like number of subscribers, what they click through to, and what spiders have been by.

And , with the obvious exception of paying for your ads to appear, Feedburner is completely free.
