All Starbucks will apparently be closed today, Tuesday Feb. 26 from 5:30-8:30pm for “expresso training.”
A small California chain will offer free coffee “in celebration” during the Starbucks closure commenting, “I’m not sure why it’s going to take them 3 hours to learn how to press a button“
By incorporating unique aspects in their shops such as live music, local art, full meals, and any number of other unique measures that Starbucks cannot, they have been doing what so many independent coffee shops have failed to do — Use Starbucks against Starbucks.
Starbucks can only be Starbucks, a local shop can be whatever it wants to be, and deliberately do things that attract people to them, especially things specific and of interest to the local community.
