How fast is the Internet growing?

Akamai says their content delivery system last Friday delivered:

500 billion requests for content, which is 12 million requests per second.

3.45 Tbps per second, at its peak, their highest ever. A terabit is 125 gigabytes, so that’s 431.25 gigabytes per second.

In five years, these numbers will no doubt seem small.
